Fair society, healthy lives

Fair Society, Healthy Lives, la quarta Annual Balzan Lecture del vincitore del premio Balzan 2004 Sir Michael Marmot, rappresenta un attualissimo contributo al dibattito riguardo al tipo di società in cui dovremmo vivere e al ruolo dello stato nella sua creazione, in particolare nel campo dell’assistenza sanitaria. Si tratta della più recente Annual Balzan Lecture destinata al grande pubblico.

Michael Marmot
Michael Marmot, b. 1945, Director of the International Institute for Society and Health and of the Institute of Health Equity, University College London, was awarded in 2004 the Balzan Prize for Epidemiology. Chair of the WHO Commission on Social Determinants of Health, he produced the report Closing the Gap in a Generation (2008). At the British Government’s request, he conducted the “Strategic Review of Health Inequalities in England post 2010”, which published its report Fair Society, Healthy Lives (2010). The Regional Director of WHO Europe invited him to conduct the “European Review of Social Determinants of Health and the Health Divide”, which reported in 2012.
