La ricerca sulla geografia antica ha recentemente registrato un notevole sviluppo, non solo grazie ad un uso più sofisticato delle nuove tecnologie, ma anche per la varietà di tendenze della ricerca storica sul mondo antico. «Geographia Antiqua» intende colmare il divario esistente tra le riviste di antichità classiche e quelle geografiche, ponendosi come punto di riferimento internazionale in questo campo di studi. I temi trattati sono: la geografia storica del mondo antico, la storia della geografia antica, la sua tradizione in epoca medievale e moderna.

Research into ancient geography has registered an important advance recently not only thanks to the more sophisticated use of new technology but also as a result of various trends in historical research into the ancient world. «Geographia Antiqua» aims to fill the gap that exists among both journals of the ancient world as well as geographical journals. The Journal is therefore a kind of international point of reference in this field of study; it covers the following themes: the historical geography of the ancient world, the history of ancient geography and its tradition in the Medieval and modern age.
