«GIOVINETTA PEREGRINA».
La vera storia di Laura Peperara e Torquato Tasso
Con CD contenente "Madrigali per Laura Peperara"

Archival research allows us to establish that Laura Peperara, famous singer and harp player, was born in 1563. This eliminates Solerti’s hypothesis that she was Tasso’s second love interest at the time, as well as the receiver of a book of love poems. Consequently, it is possible to reconstruct Peperara’s artistic path from a different angle and reorganize an important part of Tasso’s lyrical production. A CD entitled «Madrigali per Laura Peperara» accompanies the volume.

Gianfrancesco Pico
COMPENDIO DELLE COSE MIRABILI DI CATERINA DA RACCONIGI
Edizione critica a cura di Linda Pagnotta

During the last years of his life, Gianfrancesco Pico demonstrated an unremitting interest in the figure of the Piedmontese mystic Caterina Mattei. The materials which converge in this work were obtained from both direct association with the religious woman and pre-existing hagiographic documents. In its richness of casuistry and its punctuality of doctrinal references, the volume presents itself as a treatise of Pico’s thought on those themes dearest to him such as prophecy, miracle, and the supernatural.

Tommaso Campanella
LETTERE
A cura di Germana Ernst, su materiali preparatori inediti di Luigi Firpo, con la collaborazione di Laura Salvetti Firpo e Matteo Salvetti

The volume presents a new edition of the corpus of Campanella’s letters, which revises and completes the one edited by Vincenzo Spampanato in 1927. Distributed, though unevenly, throughout the course of his life, the collection of letters appears diversified in terms of content, breadth, and expressive style – but each letter, whether it be a memorial to the pope, a scientific pamphlet, a dedication or a meagre note, contributes to delineating the author’s portrait.

LA «CIVIL DIFESA»
Economia, finanza e sistema militare nel Granducato di Toscana (1814-1859)

With the conviction that defensive strategies be legible only within the framework of foreign, economic and financial politics, the volume analyses the case of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany during the decades preceding the unification. Thanks to a vast and never before utilized archival documentation, the major structure of this model of military expenditure is reconstructed showing how, despite the deep-rooted disinterest for the entire defensive system, this has always represented the most onerous institution of the Grand Duchy.

CHARLES DOUDELET PITTORE, INCISORE E CRITICO D'ARTE
Dal «Leonardo» a «L'Eroica»
A cura di Francesca Cagianelli

The historical-critical question concerning the cultural and artistic relations between Italy and Belgium at the dawn of the twentieth century is complex and fundamental. Charles Doudelet plays an exceptional role in this domain, both as an artist and a critic of the arts. Between avant-garde graphics and primitivism, Doudelet once more acts as an intermediary between Italy and the Northern culture, which is pivotal to rewriting many chapters of our art history.

DELIZIE ESTENSI
Architetture di villa nel Rinascimento italiano ed europeo
A cura di Francesco Ceccarelli e Marco Folin

The volume collects a series of essays, written by some of the greatest scholars of Renaissance architecture, on the villas of the Casa d’Este built between the 1400s and 1500s, the so-called «delights». These were palaces of proverbial magnificence (but at the same time centres of government and farming), destroyed by neglect and various demolitions, whose history and outstanding originality are reconstructed here for the first time within the Italian and European context.

GIACOMO E MONALDO LEOPARDI FALSARI TRECENTESCHI
Contraffazione dell'antico, cultura e storia linguistica nell'Ottocento italiano

Giacomo and Monaldo Leopardi's medieval forgeries are placed within the wider context of 19th century counterfeiting by exploring linguistic aspects, previous historical instances and ideological motives.Through the theme of archaism and textual falsifications, the author sheds light on the dialectic between tradition and innovation during a crucial phase of our linguistic history, as well as the links between Italian and European culture during an era pervaded by the «myth of origins».

TECNICHE COSTRUTTIVE E MAGISTERI EDILIZI NELL'OPERA LETTERARIA E ARCHITETTONICA DI VITTONE

The volume delineates and deepens the value of the technical and constructional experimentation which characterizes the work of Bernardo Antonio Vittone – architect active in Piedmont during the 18th century – in relation to building and architectural practices consolidated by the institutions of the Savoy monarchy. Through a close transversal reading of his production, his theoretical texts and his contracts, the value of Vittone’s building site emerges as a laboratory for training and research.

Giorgio Bacci
LE ILLUSTRAZIONI IN ITALIA TRA OTTO E NOVECENTO
Libri a figure, dinamiche culturali e visive

The book approaches illustration history as a field involving various disciplines: art, literature, publishing, book design and history in general. Starting from a multi-language bibliography, the author considers the role of illustrations in constructing an Italian identity between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the creation of new visual and cultural stereotypes, the development of a more popular world of publishing, and the increase of illustrations of a «true to life» type.
